I have a documented disability and requested a USPS hardship accommodation. USPS required extensive medical documentation, but I left the process feeling that my disability and the information I provided were not given the level of consideration I expected. My experience with the local Postmaster was, in my opinion, unprofessional, aggressive, and dismissive. I repeatedly received the response, “That happens a lot in Franklin,” without any explanation of what that meant or how it related to my hardship request. USPS determined my driveway was a safety concern, yet UPS, FedEx, Amazon, DoorDash, grocery delivery services, and other delivery drivers have no issue accessing my property. After seeking assistance through my congressional representative’s office, I was informed that hardship accommodation decisions are made solely at the local level, leaving no independent review of my concerns. I hope USPS improves disability awareness, communication, and the way hardship accommodations are handled. Individuals with disabilities deserve to be treated with professionalism, respect, and compassion.

I have always had good service at this post office, as far as lost packages or over size packages, but today was different. My daughter received a notice of an oversized package on 7-2 2026. She texted at work, which is right beside the post office, and wanted me to pick it up. I walked over to the post office and asked Jonathon to check on it for me , and supposedly he did. He came back and told me the package was not there, not big deal. I assumed the carrier had not got back off the route yet. I went back on the 7-3-2026 , and checked with Jonathon again, he again told me the package was not there. [ I did forget to take my notice ] , but this is a small post office and never had any problem in the past with just giving them my address. He was very rude to me, and told me that unless I had a tracking number, don`t come back. I ran around to get the tracking number after about an hour, and went back in there. Jonathon was not there, but the other attendant , did not even ask for a tracking number. He got my address , went back , got my package , no problem. He was super nice.I work in customer service and know how to treat people, This is not the way I treat people and don`t expect to be treated that way.

Dear Governor Stien, I am writing to express my deep frustration regarding ongoing mail delivery issues affecting my elderly parents’ property in Franklin, North Carolina. The level of service provided by the United States Postal Service at this location has become unacceptable. With very few exceptions, anything larger than a standard envelope is not delivered to the residence. Instead, packages are routinely held at the local post office, requiring someone to retrieve them in person. This has become a recurring problem rather than an occasional inconvenience. I am a Florida resident, but I help care for my elderly parents, who own the property. I frequently order essential items for them from out of state. Too often, packages are returned to the sender because the postal carrier does not attempt delivery or because no one is available to pick them up immediately. This creates unnecessary delays, additional costs, and significant stress for my family. To make matters worse, the assigned mailbox is located approximately seven-tenths of a mile from the home. Reaching it requires passing multiple other mailboxes, turning onto a busy roadway, and walking a considerable distance. For elderly residents, this arrangement is not only inconvenient but potentially unsafe. I would appreciate an explanation of why the mailbox is located so far from the residence and whether there is any process for requesting that it be relocated closer to the home. I have even paid additional shipping fees to use UPS in hopes of avoiding these problems, only to have UPS transfer the package to the Postal Service for final delivery, where the same issues occur again. Paying extra for reliable service only to experience the same failure is extremely frustrating. While I understand that the Postal Service is a federal agency, I hope your office can assist by directing this concern to the appropriate officials or advocating for greater accountability. Residents deserve dependable mail service, especially elderly individuals who rely on deliveries for medications, household necessities, and other essential items. I respectfully request answers to the following: * Why are packages routinely not delivered to this address? * What accountability exists when mail carriers repeatedly fail to provide expected service? * Can the mailbox location be reviewed and potentially relocated to a safer, more accessible location? * What steps can be taken to ensure residents receive the level of postal service they are entitled to? Thank you for your time and consideration. I would greatly appreciate any assistance your office can provide in addressing these longstanding issues. Sincerely, Jesse Dalba.
