  I completed forgot to write my experience with the Durham Post office. I forgot what the woman and gentleman's names were. I wanted to share a very positive experience I had with the Durham Post Office earlier this year. In February, I mailed an Etsy gift to my friend’s daughter in another town in North Carolina. Unfortunately, I accidentally used her correct street address but put “Durham, NC” and our zip code instead of her actual city and zip code. I didn’t realize the mistake until I received an Etsy notification that the package was out for delivery in Durham. Since the street didn’t exist in Durham, I knew there would be a problem. I first called the USPS 800 number, and they directed me to contact the local post office. I was pleasantly surprised that someone actually answered the phone at the Durham Post Office, and the woman I spoke with was extremely kind and helpful. She looked for the package, found it, and even set it aside for pickup. I had mailed two packages, and only one had been recovered at first. A few days later, on Saturday, I received another delivery notification. I called again and eventually reached a gentleman at the post office. Although he couldn’t locate the second package right away, he took down my information and personally called me back later that afternoon with an update. He asked me to call again on Tuesday since Monday was a holiday. When I called Tuesday, I spoke with the same helpful woman, and she was able to locate the second package as well. My husband picked it up the following day. I know people are quick to post complaints, but I wanted to recognize the excellent customer service I received from the Durham Post Office employees who helped me. Both employees were friendly, patient, and genuinely willing to help solve the problem. Their kindness and effort were truly appreciated.

  If I could give zero stars that's exactly what it would be. It doesn't matter what day or time, they NEVER answer the phone. I literally spent an entire day, all the way until they closed, and the only 3 calls that were picked up, were immediately hung up. It's absolutely ridiculous considering I have a missing package that I can't speak to anyone about because not only do they not answer the phone, but they also just lock the doors during business hours. I am a patient person but this is ridiculous. It must be nice to show up at work, lock the doors, take the phone off the hook and still get paid for doing nothing. I've contacted the inspector because this facility is so sketchy. Packages magically disappear all the time and nobody will do their job. I can't understand how or why this place isn't shut down already.

  I called two days in advance to hold my packages at the post office. I was told I could not hold the packages because they inputted address had one digit wrong- instead it’ll be returned to sender because that address is invalid (A land of grass). Today I see it was delivered “In a garage or other door”.. except there is no garage or door there because it’s a field of grass… Now the company is trying to keep my funds because USPS says delivered despite the fact that it was NOT. Now I’m sent chasing two missing packages despite the fact I called 72 hours in advance to stop this AND my package was delivered to an empty field of grass and lied about its drop off location.. I just moved here from out of town and hate this city already….
