I waited in line for 15 min with my son during their walk-in passport times to get his passport, when I approach the window, I was told that because there was only one person they wouldn’t be able to do it. I explained that we had all the paperwork filled out and we had made copies already so they didn’t have to do that. She then said do you have a picture? while tapping the paper with her finger. I said “no you do that here” then a man waiting in line behind me decided to yell at me, “THEYRE SHORT STAFFED!” The woman behind the desk, then said very rudely you should make an appointment, which I informed her I tried and it wasn’t working, and that these were the walk-in hours, she told me she would not help me. If you’re going to advertise walk in hours, you should accommodate people, and If you can’t, you should put a sign on the door that says (no passports for walk-ins today) so that a person doesn’t spend 15 minutes in line and then get yelled at by a guy and treated badly by the person behind the desk who should be doing her job or at least be kind. Take down the advertised walk in hours on your website or at a minimum put a sign on the door. Incompetent and rude

The service is so great, way beyond my expectation! Short for a few dollars for a money order. The staff graciously paid from her own pocket for me. Thank you so much Wendi! You are the best!

Update. 7 years later and still pathetic. I wanted to send a small cat toy plushie (size of my hand and probably 2oz.) across town. A little surprize for a cat owner. I thought a USPS plastic envelope would be an inexpensive option. Foolish thought. $1.99 for the smallest pouch plus $5.50 postage. So $7.50 to essentially get a handful of cotton across town. This is your tax dollars at work. Avoid the USPS unless you have absolutely no other option. The post office has a reputation as being slow and outdated. Add poor customer service and it's not surprising why they have been losing BILLIONS year after year. I wanted to send a SASE to have the nearby 17th District court send me a transcript. Absolutely clueless how to approximate postage for standard sheets of paper. (looked on line and normal 8.5x11 is 0.16 oz./pg.) USPS is pathetic. I wish they'd go out of business and have someone competent like Fed. Ex. take over.
