Drivers seem to be illiterate (or frankly lazy) and dump packages wherever they feel on the property instead of the conveniently located maildrop that says “put package in here”. What they DO put in the maildrop is packages for every single other apartment number except the correct one, even if you write “Apt [#] ONLY, out of town!” and then you have your neighbors texting to see if you have their package (surprise, you do) while you’re not even in the state. Mail forwarding is also a joke to them. Even if you go in person to confirm that your package will be forwarded to your new address out of state, they’re too lazy to check the forwarding request log or whatever they’re supposed to, and will still deliver it to the wrong address that you now live 1,500 miles away from. Additionally don’t expect them to ever install the locks on and register (much needed) new communal mailboxes—we waited over 5 months to get keys for the new mailboxes that never came. Who knows if the new people living there are still waiting, or if the thing will ever be activated. One staff member said he was working on installing the locks, but he doesn’t want to drive over to the apartment “because he could get a nail in his tire” (literally what lol?), and the other guy can’t do it because he actually has to be behind the desk. I understand that USPS is having a staffing crisis but so is the entire country; this city’s mail service is absolutely horrible even with that in mind. I’ve lived in three different geographic regions of the country in both city and rural settings and only here have I ever experienced this degree of incompetence.

They marked my packages as being "undeliverable." I was home all day, they didn't even try. They them held them at the post office, saying I needed to pick them up myself. I tried using their online "redelivery" form, but it won't let you submit it after filing it out, it just buffers forever. It takes a lot of nerve to deny delivery, then deny alternate delivery, and then not answer the customer service number when you call.

there is a man who works at this location who makes it very clear he hates his job. he’s rude, unwilling to assist and doesn’t even try to hide his disdain when you make a reasonable request. i spoke on the phone with a woman once who told me she’d set my package aside to come pick up, i show up, explain the situation to the man at the front and he cuts me off saying “it’s not here”. i insisted he go check, and lo and behold he comes back with my package. he huffed and puffed so much before doing it, and was absolutely rude after the fact. i have had countless situations like this with him that i am no longer willing to return to this post office for shipping packages out.

I had a fantastic experience at the Augusta Post Office thanks to Tanya. I recently moved and hadn't updated my address in time, which could have been a headache. Tanya was incredibly courteous, professional, and patient. She stayed with me through the entire process of locating my held mail and even left a note for her colleagues to ensure it’s ready for me tomorrow. She also verified that my change of address is now active in the system. The world would be a better place with more people like Tanya!
