  This was one of the most appalling retail customer service experiences I've ever had and, as the owner of more than one retail shop, I hope that I never have such bad people in my employ as the manager I spoke to from this store. I ordered toner that I need for an event that was starting in less than 24 hours and saw that Staples online had 30 minute pickup. When I saw that only the purchaser could pick up, I called the shop to ask if I could send my employee to get it. The cashier was very helpful and said if he was there, he'd be able to do it, so kudos to the cashier. However, he had to transfer me to the store manager because the order hadn't come through yet. Both the cashier and the manager made it clear that "they have nothing to do with orders placed online." That's all well and good, but they are representatives of the Staples brand and the "not my department" attitude is simply not an acceptable answer from the representative of any large company. At least be a little apologetic. So then, after being on hold for about 15 minutes, I called back only to get disconnected. The pick-up-in-30-minutes order still hadn't come through to their system, so I said I would cancel it and did. I then asked the store manager if he could gather those items and I would be there soon and he refused to gather the items without the order I had just cancelled for lack of its coming through. I told him he should have been more apologetic for his company's failure and he said, "I should apologize to you?" He insisted that I needed these items and he asked me name and, when I gave it to him, he said he wouldn't serve me. That's fine. I found it at another large electronics seller that cares about their customers. Staples has lost a longtime customer as we have purchased so much from them over the years.

  Everyone in this store was exceedingly helpful to me today! I’m technologically challenged at times and they were patient, helpful and knowledgeable. Young man and woman behind the counter 20/10 as was cashier. THANK YOU! Turned an unpleasant errand into easy peasy

  Clearly understaffed. The Amazon return line was very long and the people in it were LOUDLY complaining as I was checking out (because Staples customers get checked out first). Pretty hostile environment for an office supply store. So, I guess Amazon has branched out into making sure the employees of other companies are treated badly too now??

  My past experiences with the Danvers store has always been positive. Previously you were greeted at the door by an adult employee who sent you to the department that you were looking for. Today no greeter, the store was kind of a mess and all the employees looked like teenagers who were wishing to be anywhere but there. No one was willing to help and when I reached the isle I was told to go to there was very little product and left knowing why Amazon is the only way to go. Too bad but I can see why the Beverly store probably closed.
