- JJJacob JarzabekSep 17, 20261.0As an SLPA with boots on the ground in Arizona for the past 15 years, I can always immediately tell if my virtual supervising SLP is an SS contractor. They seem to hire anyone, seem to specialize in providing districts with the most inexperienced novice fresh out of grad school SLPs in the nation. I abhor working with SS SLPs. Never had a good experience. Train your SLPs. On a side note, virtual therapy services are inferior to in-person. The science backs it. ASHA confirms it. But SS isn’t upfront with districts about the cons of virtual and claim it’s equally effective. It isn’t and often does more harm than good.

Felt judged through out the phone call and was told I was not qualified for a telehealth type position despite having 10 years of experience with a diverse population of pediatric patients. Keep in mind, this is a non-therapist making this assumption. Asked if the individual on the phone had a copy of my resume (which was sent at time of application) and he did not. How are we supposed to trust individuals like this to place us?
