The gentleman at the front desk is such a RESPECTFUL, helpful person! Thank you so much for everything you have done for me!!!! The other lady (I didn’t get a name.) is BEYOND RUDE. This is not the first time, but the second time I have went in there and she “helped” me and she made me feel so uncomfortable!!! There is a way to talk to people with a little respect! Including the young man working at the front desk! Not only was she rude to me, but calling out employees in front of customers isn’t right. I really hope this is addressed! I never take time to leave a bad review!!!

Our experience with the St. Amant Post Office, particularly with the Postmaster, was extremely disappointing and concerning. The issue began with a package addressed to my significant other that employees initially could not locate when he went to pick it up. After a couple of phone calls, he tracked the location. I returned the next day to retrieve it (as he works during their usual operating hours), and the Postmaster intervened and refused to release it without a handwritten, signed authorization from him. Later that evening, we called 1-800-ASK-USPS to verify exactly what was required. He provided the authorization as instructed (a signed handwritten letter with required information),and I returned with it, my valid ID, a copy of his ID, tracking information, and him available on speaker phone. Despite having everything USPS required, the Postmaster STILL initially refused to allow the employee to release the package (she was not on premesis, she was on the phone). We complied with USPS's authorization requirements and were denied access anyway, which was unlawful and goes against official USPS procedures/guidelines. We then discovered an even bigger issue: they had stopped delivery and were withholding ALL of our mail without legally notifying us. Apparently, the carrier abruptly decided our mailbox needed to be moved and suddenly stopped delivering our mail, despite it having been in the same location since before we purchased the home (which was a few years ago). We had received NO formal notice that there was a mailbox issue or that our mail delivery was being suspended. USPS uses PS Form 4056 to notify customers of mailbox issues. We never received any notification. The carrier also claimed an attempted delivery notice had been left for the package, yet we never received a PS Form 3849 (Redelivery Notice) either. Once it became apparent that proper notice had not been provided to us, the the post master reluctantly allowed the gentleman to finally release the package to me. That was when we discovered the Post Office had also accumulated our regular mail without notifying us. One piece -a Progressive Insurance envelope- actually had “NOT A HARDSHIP” handwritten directly on it (which is not a formal notice) and had never been delivered anyway. Two days later, our regular mail suddenly resumed, and someone wrote directly on one of our packages that the mailbox needed to be moved. Only AFTER our mail had been withheld, our accumulated mail was released, and regular delivery resumed did we finally receive the official mailbox notice. Regardless of whether USPS ultimately determines that our mailbox needs to be relocated, that is a completely separate issue from the manner in which this was handled. If USPS determines that a mailbox location does not comply with delivery requirements, there are established procedures for notifying the customer and giving the customer an opportunity to correct the issue. The appropriate response is not to silently stop delivering someone's mail, accumulate it at the Post Office without notifying them, and only provide the formal mailbox notice after the customer discovers what has happened. Likewise, it is unacceptable to demand specific documentation to release a package, have the customer provide exactly what is required, then refuse to honor the authorization anyway. The gentleman at the front counter deserves some recognition in this. He was kind, professional, helpful, and patient throughout this ordeal. Unfortunately, the Postmaster was rude and unnecessarily combative. She was apparently unaware that I could hear every word of the conversation between her and the employee over the phone-including the remarks about us and the attitude with her employee. Throughout both interactions, she seemed to be determined to make this situation difficult and highly inconvenient for no good reason. We are filing a formal complaint with documentation through the appropriate USPS channels so this can be investigated and to help prevent this from happening to others.

Not sure who the bad reviews have been dealing with but the counter employees I deal with regularly are all courteous and and helpful. Our mail carrier has also been fantastic.

Problems are very persistent with this location, ever since the flood of 2016. With the advent of tracking apps and the informed delivery app, I track every order I place that is trackable. Just had a CERTIFIED letter that was supposed to be delivered on Friday, July 12 and it was a no show even though it was indicated as "out for delivery". The entire USPS is a joke, they are losing billions per year and keep raising their rate, why? It's the biggest pyramid scheme of the United States of America.
