Being the only print and ship center in the area, I already have to drive 28 mins here to use the printers.
I have always been a proponent for using their shipping services, as they are far more reliable than USPS and better rates than UPS.
But, for printing services, I appreciated that I could walk in with my usbflash drive, plug in, pay for my printing/ copies and head back out. Until last week.
When all of a sudden my usb flashdrive wasn't being read by their computers at the printer. I tried all 3 machines. No joy. So I thought ok maybe I need a new one. I purchased a Usb drive there at the FedEx store. Went back home, loaded my documents to print, and drove all the way back to the store again.
Still the printers didn't read the brand new USB drive I had *just purchased*.
So I went up to the counter, where I was instructed previously to go when printing problems happened, and told by a less than courteous "customer service" representative who told me she couldn't help me, I'd have to come back later or go get back in line to wait for another service representative to help.
I get in line, I get another lady to help me, she informs me I now have to pay a $2.50 service fee to print from their computer behind the counter, since it's "not their fault the printers can't read my usb drive". Color me irritated at this point. Ok fine. Shouldn't have to, but whatever.
She then asks hiw many I need printed, I tell her a bunch of different things, she says theres a $50 " rush" charge also for anything over a certain number of pages. what the actual crap?!??!
The computer she uses is far behind the counter and I can't see the screen, nor can i walk back to her to point out which files I want printed out. I needed 38 pages of various documents on my drive. So she then has to come up to the original frint counter computer, where I originally went to, with the "i cant help you" lady who throws up her hands and stomps away, because I, an actual customer in need of service, needs to use the printing services that they are being paid to provide. The second kady who is actually helping me, apologies and we proceed to get my documents actually printed out.
#1 the USB drive obviously CAN be read by computers, it works at home, it works on their computer behind the counter... Just not the tablet things at the printer units. It absolutely IS their problem for not updating the firmware, software, or just resetting it. On a BRAND NEW Flash drive they just sold me for $30. Whatever.
#2 no customer should ever be told "I can't help you, you have to go wait in line again" after waiting... It's literally your job to assist a customer with a printing order, At The Printing Desk. And then to give me attitude?? Just.. wow
