- BHBobby HaguewoodAug 27, 20261.0USPS is less of a delivery service and more of a federally funded scavenger hunt. You hand them a package, they scan it, and then everyone gets to participate in the exciting game of “Where the hell is it now?” Tracking updates are basically creative writing: “In Transit to Next Facility” could mean it’s 20 miles away, sitting in a warehouse, touring the continental United States, or currently being raised by wolves. The estimated delivery date is apparently just a suggestion. Your package might arrive tomorrow. It might arrive next Thursday. It might show up three months from now looking like it served two tours in Afghanistan. Nobody knows. And customer service? Incredible. You call because the tracking website tells you nothing, only to have an automated system read the same useless tracking information back to you. Truly groundbreaking technology. At this point, USPS could replace their entire tracking system with a Magic 8 Ball and somehow improve accuracy. Next time I need something delivered, I’m strapping it to a carrier pigeon. At least the pigeon has a sense of urgency.

The counter clerk lines can get backed up around peak times but the staff handles PO boxes, package drop-offs, and certified mail pretty efficiently enough.
