My mushrooms were not growing well and looked undernourished. I ordered organic fertilizer from them, and after using it, my mushrooms became much fresher and healthier.

Edit: October 9, 2026 Midwest Grow is the GOAT. I am a 1st time grower and obsessively cautious. At every step, they've patiently, confidently answered my questions and walked me through concerns at each stage in the growth cycle. They are so patient, gracious, insightful, and helpful. Thank you Midwest Grow for all the help AND for never making me feel like I'm bothering you. V1 Review ⬇️ I had high expectations for this company and they exceeded at every step! I'm really enjoying learning this process. This will be a highly detailed review for those looking for a comprehensive evaluation of the products and customer support. To qualify, I have a professional background in biotechnology, co-founded and served at the first executive director of EQI (Eddleman Quantum Insitute) in LA. My experience gives me a unique insight into products used for cultivating and handling organic matter. I visited the physical store because I am not too far and had so many questions that I didn't want to tie up staff on the phone. I purchased their 66 quart fully automated monotub kit, liquid culture jar, large dehydrator, and a collapsible SAB (still air box). Their 66 qt automated kit is frankly one of the most impressive feats of engineering that I've come across in recent times. It is shockingly sophisticated. Do not be fooled into thinking it was easy to develop this system based on its appearance. It's the result of a lifetime of experience, fine-tuned to be the ultimate pro level product that's consumer friendly. Their entire inventory is flawlessly constructed and packaged, built on "first principles engineering" philosophy. The grain bags come tightly packed to speed up the pre "break and shake" inoculation process. Both the grain and substrate are double bagged with industrial grade plastic The mono tub polymer is high quality (dense and robust). They have 3D printed components to produce airtight, pressure fittings. The dual thermometer and hygrometer sits flush in a dedicated black plastic plug to simultaneously guage the humidity and temperature at the midway point for best accuracy. The automated air exchange hose and diffuser fits perfectly snug into its cutout paired to a manual timer (cant beat analog for reliability). The footprint the 66 qt system is shockingly compact. The entire thing fits inside their still air box which folds into a circular carrying pouch with a 12" diameter, a few mm thick. Midwest Grow has a complementary video for every product in their inventory. When I struggled to refold the SAB, I found a "how to" video on their YT channel. The included instruction manuals are comprehensive but concise. Yet, they shine with direct customer support. I've called 3 times already to speak with their knowledgeable and friendly staff. I just got off a 30 minute call with the owner who was patient and welcomed questions. Have an issue or question? Call, a human answers the phone and will walk you through it. I can't give enough kudos to their engineer or engineering team. They've built a perfectly balanced system. The moisture levels of their substrate and grain bags create the ideal humidity paired with the volume of the tub when the walls are misted. Spartan engineering always wins the test of time over systems with complex, digital components. With this setup, purchased for a grand total of $130 (in store pickup plus 25% off for labor day sale) I was shocked to discover a single flush could produce 5 pounds of wet weight mushrooms or 7 ounces of dehydrated material. Ever since I started drinking mushroom blended teas I've been spending a fortune on dried lion's mane, turkey tail and reishi supplements. No more! This is one of my favorite companies ever. They were among the first in the business of selling this type of gear to consumers. The more I learn about mycelium the more impressed I am with Midwest grow compared to their competitors. I will always prefer "function over form" in design yet their forms are all functional and again, as "Spartan" as can be.
