- JKJ KurmenJun 17, 20262.0Came to Washington, IL for three weeks and ordered a Father’s Day gift online. To my surprise, the seller even delivered the package to the Airbnb where I’m staying. I was tracking the package very closely, and yesterday, June 16, it was supposed to be delivered. After finishing my workday, I realized I had never seen a package in the driveway. I checked the tracking number and saw the words: “Returned to Sender.” So today, June 17, I went to the local post office (8:40am) to find out what happened. The person at the front desk told me, “I processed the package because that address doesn’t exist.” 😱😱😱😱😱😱 Seriously? Just because you don’t recognize an address in your own town doesn’t give you the right to return someone’s package without even checking with the mail carrier who actually delivers in that area. It was as simple as: “The address doesn’t exist.” Meanwhile, in the background, I heard another gentleman say, “That’s the XYZ house.” Yes, that’s exactly where I’m staying. It’s incredibly disappointing that mail delivery can be impacted by one person’s limited knowledge of the town. Because of one individual’s decision not to place the package on the mail carrier’s route and instead return it based solely on their own assumption, a Father’s Day gift never made it to its destination. A simple question could have avoided all of this. Instead, an executive decision was made, and the package was returned without verification. No Father’s Day gift this year… all because someone decided an address didn’t exist when, in fact, it did.
