Update: Sandie from The Galena Illinois location contacted me and between her and Dennis (who is also from The Galena location) my issue was more than resolved. I really appreciate both of them making it right and the only reason I'm giving this post office only four stars is because of course my experience there the last time I was there wasn't very pleasant but also because it's not exactly a full-fledged post office. If you're doing simple stuff, letters or packages with prepaid postage labels, you should be fine. Anything else, I would go to the Galena location just to save your time and potentially frustration. Keep in mind I'm a local.. so I get it, it's a very small town. Lucky in some ways to even have a post office. However, that doesn't excuse the way I was treated and how my issue was initially handled.
All good in the end ✌️
Original review below:
I don't go to the post office much, it's been years since I've mailed a package through the post office. I really hope this is an isolated incident and doesn't reflect how every post office would deal with this problem.
I brought two packages to this post office and the postal employee used the paper I had with the information on it as the label. I didn't have a say, the employee just cut the papers and taped them to the boxes.
This seemed odd but what do I know, I don't work there.
One box showed up fine to its destination. One box made it from Illinois to Utah but was one city away before USPS decided to ship it back to me.
I took a picture of the top of the box clearly showing the ship to and ship from information. Yet for whatever reason I ended up with it.
Today: 05/08/2026
I stopped in to try and get it re-shipped and to find out why it was sent back to me when it was clearly labeled. The postal employee didn't have an answer but said the label wasn't very good and was quick to start ringing me up to charge me again to ship it and when I asked why I would have to pay to ship it again I was told because it wasn't their problem. I told them I would dispute the charge and ship it elsewhere, they said that was fine. So here I am.. venting yes but also warning people to maybe use a different location if it's anything important or you just don't want to deal with a potential problem like mine.
