I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this DHL location.
My office is located downtown, and this is the closest DHL location to me. I arrived with a prepaid DHL shipment measuring 39" x 24" x 24" and weighing approximately 40 pounds. After looking at the box, the staff told me they could not accept it because the size of the package was supposedly a "health hazard."
As a result, I was forced to take the package to the DHL facility in Franklin Park. The round-trip Uber cost me approximately $120, and due to Chicago traffic, I lost nearly two hours of my workday.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that the DHL staff in Franklin Park confirmed that there was no issue with the package and that it was completely acceptable for shipment. In other words, I was given inaccurate information that caused significant inconvenience, unnecessary expense, and wasted time.
Customers rely on DHL employees to understand company policies and provide accurate guidance. Being turned away based on incorrect information is unacceptable, especially when it results in substantial financial cost and disruption to a customer's day.
Because of this experience, I will seriously reconsider using DHL in the future. Management should review this incident and ensure that employees are properly trained so that other customers do not experience the same unnecessary frustration and expense.
This version is forceful, factual, and avoids language that could cause the review to be dismissed as purely emotional.
