March 2026. I am posting to address a significant breach of safety protocols and professional standards at this facility. Hoodies, cell phone usage and headphones seem to be normal for workers in the front facing lobby. Employees working the front lobby area working the conveyor belt with boxes and packages are also observed on their cell phones and wearing Beats headphones while on duty. This is not merely a customer service issue; it is a direct violation of established safety and operational mandates: Worker Safety: Per OSHA guidelines and USPS EL-814 (Postal Employee’s Guide to Safety), wearing headphones in an industrial environment with moving machinery—specifically conveyor belts—is a safety hazard that impairs situational awareness. Public Contact Prohibition: Under APWU settlements and national USPS policy, employees are explicitly forbidden from wearing headphones while in view of or in contact with the public. Maintaining a professional environment and adhering to safety regulations is a requirement, not an option. I hope local management addresses these compliance failures immediately to ensure both employee safety and adherence to national labor agreements. USPS and Union regulations: Appearance Standards (ELM 931.26) Employees visible to the public must maintain a professional image. ELM 933.1 lists only specific, USPS-authorized headgear (like official caps). A hair bonnet or hoodie is not authorized. Professional Image: Performing personal tasks on a phone in a front-end area visible to customers violates the requirement for a professional appearance and demeanor in public-facing locations. Public View (APWU Article 26): The union agreement requires employees to represent the "best tradition of service" when in customer sightlines. Non-regulation attire in a lobby is a violation of this standard. Safety Prohibitions (ELM 814.1): Headphones are strictly forbidden when working near moving machinery (the conveyor belt) or when in view of the public. This is a non-negotiable safety rule to ensure employees hear emergency alarms and verbal warnings. Snag Hazards (EL-801): Safety manuals prohibit loose-fitting items, such as hoodie drawstrings or loose headwear, around mechanized equipment like conveyors due to the risk of injury. Union Settlements (M-01150): National agreements only permit personal headsets if the employee is stationary, seated, not in public view, and away from machinery. The use of a cell phone while operating a conveyor belt in a public lobby is a direct violation of several USPS and Safety mandates: Inattentive Operation (EL-801): The Supervisor’s Safety Handbook requires full concentration when working near mechanized equipment. Using a phone while the conveyor is moving is classified as distracted working, which significantly increases the risk of "pinch-point" or "caught-in" injuries. Prohibited Electronics (ELM 814.1): This section forbids the use of personal electronic devices in any way that creates a safety hazard or interferes with the performance of duties. Conscientious Service (ELM 665.13): Employees are required to discharge their duties with focus and efficiency. Engaging with a cell phone while active mail processing is occurring is a failure to meet basic performance standards.

When paying on the card reader I requested my delivery confirmation receipt emailed, and printed for verification purposes. The employee on the far end closest to the entrance/exit chose to do as she pleased instead of what I requested on the card reader. She then proceeds to cough in my face. Please retrain this employee. In addition, teach her to elbow when coughing, or at least turn away from customers when hacking up a lung.

They are understaffed and underfunded, but the people who work here seem to be doing their best. They're always friendly and although the wait is usually pretty long, they are good at their jobs and move people along as quickly as they can. To be fair, many of the folks who show up to the post office have no idea what they're doing, which has to be frustrating for the staff. They take it in stride though

Whoever the loan cashier was yesterday in the afternoon of March 23, was your typical postal employee… Rude inconsiderate less than desirable at Customer Service and an outright inept employee. Instead of attempting to cater to the customers simple request i’ve advising me of the least expensive way to ship a small package, she took it upon herself to shove brown envelope in my face without saying many words, as if that was my solution. When I go to pay for set envelope and shipment, it turns out to be the same exact cost of an express mail envelope which the price of the envelope is included in the shipment. When I questioned why she would offer me something that at minimum cost the same to ship, she essentially agreed and showed no remorse or consideration. After I decide to ship instead with express because as the name states the items would arrive sooner rather than later, I then receive the unexpected surprise of now having to pay for brown envelope, which I never asked for on top of the cost of shipping, the items express. So in essence instead of thinking, I was going to pay less for shipping the item I ended up paying way more than expected. So essentially she rudely and the literately did the contrary to what I had asked her to do. I know it’s hard to imagine, but I have received better customer service at the DMV.
