This was my first time visiting Staples to return an Amazon item. When I walked into the store, I looked around for signs directing customers to the Amazon returns area but didn't see any. I started walking toward an employee for assistance. The employee looked at me and abruptly asked, “What do you want?” There was no greeting, welcome, or offer to help. When I explained that I had an Amazon return, he pointed toward the floor and rolled his eyes. Only then did I notice the signs on the carpet directing customers to the returns area. I didn't realize I was expected to look down at the floor for directions when entering the store. Fortunately, a very pleasant employee assisted me with my return. I later asked who the gentleman was, and she told me he was David, the store manager. I was surprised and disappointed that a store manager would behave in such a rude and unprofessional manner. Customer service starts with treating people respectfully, especially when they are simply asking for help. I hope Staples corporate reviews this matter because experiences like this make customers reconsider doing business there in the future.
