I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience has been unacceptable.
I was expecting an international DHL Express shipment worth approximately $5,000. On two consecutive days (July 1 and July 2, 2026), DHL marked the shipment as “Delivery attempted – recipient not home.” This is simply false.
I stayed home both days specifically waiting for the delivery. I was only a few feet from my front door during the alleged delivery attempts, and I even tested my doorbell afterward to confirm it was working.
What makes this even more concerning is that no DHL delivery notice (door tag) was left on either day. Every major carrier (UPS, FedEx, USPS, and normally DHL as well) leaves a notice after a genuine failed delivery attempt. None was ever left.
After the first failed attempt, I spent hours on the phone with DHL customer service. My case was escalated, additional delivery instructions were added, and multiple alternative access options were provided to the driver. Despite all of that, the exact same thing happened again the following day.
The tracking now claims that an access code was unavailable, yet other delivery companies reach my address without any difficulty.
At this point I am asking DHL to investigate the driver’s GPS records and delivery logs to determine whether a genuine delivery attempt was ever made.
This has been one of the most frustrating delivery experiences I have ever had.
I couldn’t be more displeased. I have waited at home and tracked the package for over a week. Only to be be that ‘homeowner moved’. I have spoken to a DHL rep daily. They are kind and helpful. Your driver seems ignorant. I gave visited your physical locations several times. This is my 2nd delivery that I am forced to pick up myself at a location that is not remotely near my home. Odd that UPS, Amazon and FedEx deliver to my home daily. Multiple times with no problems. Please do not ever deliver to me again. I will be cautious and try not to ever use DHL again.

This is now the third time I have experienced serious delivery issues with DHL.
Most recently, I was expecting an international shipment from Tokyo that required a signature. I intentionally did not authorize a signature release because of prior delivery problems.
According to DHL’s notification, a delivery attempt was made and I was “not home.” However, our security cameras show the driver arrived at the entrance of our gated property, turned around, and left without making any meaningful attempt to complete the delivery. The driver did not use the gate call system, did not contact us, and did not attempt to gain access to the property.
Immediately after receiving the notification, I contacted DHL customer service. Despite the driver having only recently left the area, no effort was made to contact local dispatch or the driver to resolve the situation. A package that successfully traveled from Tokyo to Florida ultimately failed to reach its destination because the final delivery step was not completed.
What is most frustrating is that this was entirely preventable. Our gate system is routinely used by delivery companies, service providers, guests, and contractors without issue. Had the driver simply attempted to use the call box or contact the recipient, the delivery could have been completed.
I understand that mistakes happen. What concerns me is the apparent lack of accountability, the inaccurate representation that delivery was attempted, and the inability of customer service to intervene when the issue was reported immediately.
I am posting this review so other customers understand the experience I encountered. DHL management should review this matter, investigate the driver’s conduct, and ensure that delivery attempts are actually attempted before customers are marked as unavailable.
Very disappointing experience.

Looks like someone was just too lazy to do their job. I specifically stayed home waiting for this package. Then, when I saw the driver was supposedly near my location, I suddenly got a notification saying the courier couldn’t find me — what the hell?
He didn’t even try to find me!!!🤬
