The worst Post Office is in Inverness FL. I get smashed, open packages and empty boxes delivered to me and my customers. I've never dealt with anything like this before until I moved to Inverness. The so called " not the manager, he's in a meeting" lady was absolutely no help. First she told me that a letter I'm waiting on for 3 weeks is in the Ether somewhere, probably at the Jacksonville hub, it'll probably show up soon. My aunt lives in Jacksonville. This is not the first time I have not gotten mail delivered. Second instead of doing a search around for my package, that was dropped off almost a week ago, I was told to file a claim on the Internet to get a case number. I already have a case number and she didn't want that one. She wanted me to do it again. Then as I was leaving I turned around to say something and she was waving and making a face at me. Unprofessional is a compliment to this individual and Post office.

I am extremely frustrated with the service at the Inverness Post Office. One of the biggest issues is that the phone is rarely answered. Because some of our roads are still sand and not paved, mail is not delivered and residents must call to find out whether they have mail waiting for pickup. Unfortunately, getting someone on the phone can take hours, if it happens at all. When someone finally does answer, it is usually the same employee, which makes it even more confusing why calls go unanswered for so long. I have called other nearby post offices and they answer promptly, but this location consistently fails to provide that same level of customer service. What makes the situation even more frustrating is being told not to call so often when I am simply trying to find out if I have mail before making a trip to the post office. I do not have a car, so traveling there unnecessarily is a significant inconvenience. If mail is not being delivered to my address, calling ahead should be a reasonable way to get information. When visiting the post office in person, service is often very slow meaning that there is no real wait or line. Customers should not have to spend all day trying to reach someone by phone and then come up there to find out they have no mail and see that the inside service is available . I understand that postal employees have demanding jobs, but answering customer calls and providing basic information is part of serving the community. Residents deserve better communication and more reliable customer service than what is currently being provided.
