The postal hours were listed as open until 6:30 pm so I drove 15 minutes to get here and they shut their doors before 6:06 pm and when I knocked they would not respond. If you are going to close please adjust your posted hours so people don’t have expectations of shipping their items and you are closed.

Horrible customer service.
I am writing to formally complain about the unacceptable customer service I received at my local USPS office today.
I went to the post office specifically because I needed to mail a package and obtain a physical receipt. I initially attempted to use the self-service kiosk, but the machine was not printing a receipt. This was particularly important to me because USPS has lost one of my packages in the past, and when I attempted to file a complaint, I was told that I needed to provide the hard-copy receipt. Because of that experience, I was not willing to simply leave my package without proof that I had mailed it.
At approximately 6:22 PM, I went inside the post office. There was only one employee working inside at the time. I explained that the self-service machine was not printing my receipt and politely asked if he could scan my package and provide me with a receipt.
His response was that I could simply leave my box in the designated area because he was alone and could not help me. I explained again that I specifically needed the package scanned and needed the receipt because of previous problems with lost packages. He refused and told me that I would have to come back the next day. His tone was extremely rude and dismissive, as though my request was unreasonable.
I understand that employees can be busy, understaffed, or dealing with difficult circumstances. However, that does not justify treating customers disrespectfully. I also work. I have responsibilities. Everyone has things to do, and coming to the post office requires me to stop what I am doing and make the trip. When I make the effort to come to USPS, I expect to receive basic and respectful customer service.
What makes this situation even more frustrating is that I was not asking for anything unreasonable. I was asking for a basic receipt confirming that USPS had accepted my package. Given that USPS has previously lost one of my packages, I believe I have every reason to insist on having proof of mailing.
It is extremely concerning when customers are effectively told to leave their packages without a receipt, particularly when the self-service equipment is not functioning properly. If the machine cannot provide the receipt that customers need, there should be a reasonable alternative for obtaining one.
And unfortunately, this is not the first time I have had a negative experience with USPS. There seems to be an attitude in some USPS locations that customers should simply accept poor service because the employees are government workers. That is not acceptable. Government employment does not give anyone the right to treat members of the public rudely or dismissively.
I am asking USPS to please investigate this incident, review the customer service provided at this location, and address both the malfunctioning self-service machine and the way customers are being treated when they need assistance.
Customers should not have to choose between leaving a package without proof of mailing or making another unnecessary trip to the post office because an employee refuses to assist them. We deserve better than that.
I would appreciate a response explaining how this matter will be addressed.
