  I have been paying premiums on a life insurance optimizer policy with Equitable for about 8 years. I called in to their national office, interested in liquidating my policy, and they gave me incorrect information regarding the maturity date of my policy. I then called the number for the miami office multiple times and failed to connect to anyone. So I moved to calling the Ft. Lauderdale office. Finally. I found the direct phone number of a VP, Mr. Lewis, and he picked up. The connection was bad, and I disconnected the call. He called me back a few hours later, and I perceived that his tone was condescending. He seemed to think I knew nothing about my policy, took the tone of a superior rather than a peer, and brushed off my requests to speak to my agent, Mr. Martinez, who has always been very helpful and polite. I told him he sounded a bit condescending and hung up the phone. An hour or so later I get a call from their secretary, who was never available when I was attempting to call their office to begin with, and she informed me that they, the firm handling my account with no issue for almost 10 years, could no longer serve me and I would have to call the national line. Awful experience.
