  😤 Absolutely unacceptable customer service. I will NOT be returning to this post office. I came in needing assistance with the self-service kiosk because I am not familiar with the system. Unfortunately, the postal systems at this location seem to be down constantly. The last two times I have visited, I encountered the same issue. Normally, customers can have their mailing needs handled directly by employees at the counter, but when the systems are down, we are apparently expected to figure everything out ourselves. Today, I was mailing sensitive documents. When I am sending sensitive documents, I WANT assistance because I want reassurance that everything is handled correctly, carefully, and securely. That is reasonable at a POST OFFICE. Instead, the employee working the counter was dismissive, hostile, and acted as though customers asking for help were an inconvenience. Rather than actually walking us through the kiosk and mailing process from beginning to end, she repeatedly told us to “just use the kiosk.” At one point, she referred to customers as “children” and questioned why she should have to do basic things such as putting mailing stickers on the envelope when we could do it ourselves. That completely misses the point. YES, we can physically put a sticker on an envelope. That is NOT why we were asking for assistance. We were asking because the normal systems were DOWN and we wanted guidance and reassurance that we were completing the process correctly, especially when dealing with sensitive documents. If the regular systems were working, we would not have needed the kiosk. And no, customers are NOT “children” because they ask for assistance. Some people can navigate these systems easily; others cannot. Some may be elderly, unfamiliar with the technology, or simply want assistance to make sure an important mailing is completed correctly. That does not mean they deserve to be treated differently, talked down to, or made to feel stupid. If you are working behind the customer service counter at a POST OFFICE, your job is to assist customers. You should not stand behind the counter, bark instructions, do the absolute bare minimum, and pretend you are helping while refusing to actually guide someone through the process. What happens if something goes wrong? Customers ask for assistance so an employee can guide them from point A to point B and make sure everything is completed properly. Half-assed assistance is NOT assistance. What makes this more disappointing is the location. This is the Wisconsin Avenue area of Washington, DC, serving families, professionals, elderly residents, and people who rely on USPS for important and sensitive correspondence. You would expect basic professionalism and customer service. Instead, I left feeling belittled and completely dissatisfied. This employee was acting like doing the bare minimum was enough when customers were clearly asking for actual help. If you work behind that counter, HELP PEOPLE when they ask. Do not bark commands at them and pretend that is customer service. Whomever was working the customer service counter a women with dreads on August 30th between approximately 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, I strongly encourage management to identify this employee and address this interaction directly. Please coach them, retrain them, or seriously reconsider whether they belong in a customer-facing position. This level of hostility and bare-minimum effort is unacceptable. USPS handles important, private, sensitive, and sometimes irreplaceable documents. Customers should be able to trust the people behind that counter. This is a POST OFFICE. If a customer asks for help, HELP THEM. Do not make them feel like a damn inconvenience for asking. Customers deserve patience, professionalism, guidance, and reassurance, especially with sensitive documents. I came in expecting assistance and left feeling like I had to fight just to get customer service. That is unacceptable, and I will take my business elsewhere.

  COMPLETELY TERRIBLE SERVICE HERE THE LADY IS GETTING PAID TO HELP AND SHE DOESN’T EVEN WANT TO HELP LIKE COMPLAING ABOUT DOING HER JOB WHOEVER THEY HAD WORKING AT THE REGISTER ON AUGUST 30TH SATURDAY HAS EXTREMELY POOR SERVICE SHE WAS COMPLAINING ABOUT HELPING WHEN CLEARLY YOUR SYSTEMS ARE DOWN CUSTOMERS RATHER YOU ASSIST THEM THAN TO TELL THEM TO DO IT ON THEIR OWN OTHERWISE WHATS THE POINT OF HAVING ANY THERE AT THE COUNTER JUST TO STAND IDLING AND ONLY MAKING COMMANDS SERIOUSLY?! BAD SERVICE WHOEVER WAS WORKING THAT SATURDAY SHIFT NEVER COMING BACK HERE, IT USE TO BE GOOD THERE BUT NO LONGER ITS BEEN GOING DOWN EVER SINCE

  Unreliable. Went in on Saturday during the office hour, the office was physically open but approaching the counter there was a paper that said “no transactions are available”. There were a lot of staff… just chatting in the back office.
