I then asked if they had any idea what USPS would charge me, and the attendant confidently told me it would be "about the same price." It ended up costing $35 at USPS. A cynic might say the woman at the store had no obligation to tell me anything honest about the competition, but not giving me honest advice -- or at least just admitting she didn't know the actual answer to my question, which could have been the case -- doesn't strike me as smart business practice if you're a business trying to serve your neighbors.
