I am giving this experience a 1 star because the information on the USPS website is misleading, and my experience at the post office was disappointing.
The USPS website states that passport walk-ins are available between **1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.** I arrived at approximately **1:50 p.m.** and reached the counter around **1:53 p.m.** I was then told that they were no longer accepting passport walk-ins because the process takes about 15 minutes.
If the office cannot begin processing new passport applications after 1:45 p.m., then the website should clearly state that applicants must arrive no later than 1:45 p.m., or it should list the walk-in hours as **1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.** As it is currently written, a reasonable person would believe they can arrive anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The employee who assisted me was not rude, but she was not helpful or customer-focused. When I explained that the website indicated walk-ins until 2:00 p.m., she simply repeated that the process takes 15 minutes and suggested I try another location about 20 minutes away. There was no acknowledgment that the website could be misleading, no apology for the inconvenience, and no effort to provide any alternative solution. I had come during my lunch break specifically because I relied on the posted hours.
My complaint is primarily about the inaccurate information on the website and the lack of basic customer service. I hope USPS updates the posted walk-in hours to accurately reflect the latest time applicants can be accepted so others do not waste their time.
