I've been going here to print files for several months because we moved to the area and haven't finished unpacking--I don't know where my printer cord went. The staff and manager know my life's story because we talk while waiting (because I've always had to wait a long time to get items printed here).
I forwarded an email with several attachments (I had not reviewed the docs--had to print them, regardless). Next thing I know, she's telling me that I owe "366" I thought she meant $3.66--which is about what I've paid previously--less than $5--but, then she says no, I mean "$365.00"--I ABOUT DIED--I exclaimed WHAT WHAT WHAT???
Turns out that I had NO idea how many pages were in one of the files. I was then immediately apauled that it's not standard practice that BEFORE printing ANY job that's going to cost more than $50--that staff could write on a small piece of paper "156 pages, x2 copies = $364.00, initial for approval".
She also griped at me that prints are 35 cents per page or something like this--I could barely hear her thru my shock--I explained that I've been coming in and that prints have only ever been 10 cents per page--she literally said "that's impossible, everyone knows that they're 35 cents per page." I said "there's not even one sign posted here about your prices". She had nothing to say about that fact.
She had me talk to the manager. The manager barely reduced the total! I told the staff and manager--"I'm in total shock! I can't believe that you didn't even suggest--after hearing my situation--that you could have suggested that I could go buy a printer from Staples, a ream of paper, and a pack of ink--all for just over $100--and, print this at home--as tho you cared about your customers." No one said a thing to me.
I don't plan to EVER print with Staples again.
