Expect lines with 20, 30 or 40 people in them that take 30 minutes or even an hour or an a half or more to get through on most days. This is common. The few employees that they have there are great, but this place is definitely understaffed. The online show a kiosk for package drop off, which would be a great idea but the reality is there is not one. Most of the photos posted are not even the Pagosa Springs Post Office except for the ones showing the long lines. For the most part, postal carriers here will not deliver packages to your house. Most people have small mailboxes or PO Box so people get slips and have to stand in line to pick up their packages so the line is always clogged with people trying to get packages and people who just need to drop off or mail packages have to wait in the same line because there is no kiosk to drop off your packages. Home package delivery so you don’t get the dreaded yellow slip in your box would be the best solution here. Better staffing for the Post Office would also be helpful.

The people at this location are pleasant and friendly and know their jobs. The problem is even though there are three windows for clerks to man, 90% of the time only one person is working even when 30 or more people are standing in line for service. It is very aggravating and frustrating. Stood in line for over an hour today to mail some packages. If they had one of those self-service kiosks like every other post office I have been to lately, I would have been out of there in less than 10 minutes instead of 1 1/2 hours. Ridiculous.

It's like this most of the time. But the staff here is great. They always have a smile on their faces. They're underpaid underappreciated and lack the staffing to accommodate the influx of packages and people's needs but they do the best with what they got and I appreciate everyone that works here and you should too.

Ladies and gentlemen, proof the government runs mail like a sloth on Ambien. Packages take weeks, stamps cost more every year, and “lost” is their love language—because no profits means no rush. Capitalism? Amazon drops it tomorrow or dies trying. Competition forces speed. Government just forces stamps.

This post office is severely understaffed. For years now, folks have to wait in line for at least a half hour, usually longer, to take care of business. The employees are friendly, but something is serious amiss here. No where else have I encountered such long waits. It's only getting worse, not better, and nothing is being done to correct it.
