I am submitting this review regarding repeated service failures and unprofessional conduct by employees at the Cañon City Post Office. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. I have experienced multiple issues while living in Cañon City, but my most recent experience has prompted me to file a formal USPS complaint regarding both mail service and employee conduct. When I first moved to Cañon City, I submitted a mail forwarding request before my move. After several weeks without receiving any mail, I contacted the post office and spoke with a supervisor named Michael. He informed me that the mail carrier would not deliver my mail until I completed a card she had placed in my mailbox listing my full name. I explained that I was uncomfortable placing my full legal name in a publicly accessible mailbox and asked that my mail simply be delivered as legally required. My parents, who owned the home, also occasionally received mail at that address. Rather than addressing the issue appropriately, the carrier placed a large sticker displaying my last name inside the mailbox. The same carrier also repeatedly refused to deliver mail whenever a vehicle was parked on the public street in a way that prevented her from reaching the mailbox from her vehicle. On multiple occasions, she reportedly yelled at individuals parked legally on the street, including my mother. Because of these delivery refusals, I missed important mail and was forced to contact the post office again. Another supervisor advised that they would speak with the carrier, and service eventually improved - primarily because a different carrier began servicing the route. A few months ago, I moved to Colorado Springs part-time for work. My mail carrier decided to just stop delivering my mail. When I called to ask about this, I again spoke with Michael. After investigating, he called back and stated that the carrier had reported the home was being sold, was currently vacant and that they had suspended mail service. I told him that while the house was indeed on the market, I was still living there part-time until the house was sold and I would very much like my mail. He then changed his story to say that the mail carrier reported that other people were living there, their cars had Texas license plates and were parked in the driveway. He also said that he had forwarding requests from those individuals. I told him that was not true, since I was still living there part-time, and due to construction, the driveway was inaccessible. More importantly, these statements directly contradicted the earlier claim that the property was vacant. Regardless, neither explanation answered the basic question: where was my mail? At that point, the conversation became unprofessional. Rather than addressing my concerns, Michael began arguing with me, raised his voice, told me to "shut up," and then terminated the call. Since then, he has not responded to further calls. That same day, I discovered that the mailbox had been duct taped shut by the carrier. The mailbox is private property and does not belong to the Postal Service. I removed the duct tape and they duct taped it shut again. See attached photo. So apparently the mail carrier can exit her vehicle, if it's to vandalize someone's property. No explanation was ever provided for this, or for the whereabouts of my mail. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. The Postal Service performs an essential public function, and the community deserves honest communication, professional treatment, and reliable mail delivery. I am requesting a formal investigation into these incidents, an explanation regarding the handling and location of my mail, and a review of the conduct of the employees involved.

The most helpful staff here! Friendly, & so fast. Went the extra 2 miles for me, thank you! They do have a self service machine which is great. Wonky entrance & exits though, so do watch the signs.
