  I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with a recent experience at Staples. I initially purchased a phone charger that proved to be defective upon first use. I returned to the store and, based on a recommendation from a store associate, exchanged it for a different charger. Unfortunately, the replacement charger was also defective. When I returned to the store to request a refund, I was informed that I was beyond the 14-day return window and could only receive a store gift card. Given that this was already the second defective product, I found this policy unreasonable but agreed to proceed reluctantly. However, I was then told that I would only receive approximately half of the original purchase amount. I paid nearly $20 and was refunded only $9. This outcome is unacceptable. Retaining half the value of a product, especially when both the original and replacement items were defective, raises serious concerns about fairness and consumer protection. I have never encountered a return policy that penalizes customers in this manner when proof of purchase is clearly provided. Additionally, I was disappointed by the level of customer service I received from the manager on duty. Her demeanor was dismissive and lacked the professionalism and care expected in a customer-facing role, particularly on a day such as Mother’s Day when many customers are already managing busy schedules. I strongly urge corporate leadership to review and revise this policy, as it undermines customer trust and reflects poorly on the company’s commitment to quality and service. I also recommend additional training for management staff to ensure that customer concerns are handled with the appropriate level of respect and professionalism. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and addressed accordingly.

  SUCH friendly staff at Staples (Carmel Mountain)! I went in for a charger and ended up leaving with a notebook, pen, and a rewards account thanks to cashier Edward's friendliness. He was such a ray of sunshine - pure joy and compassion radiated off of him and he turned what is usually a boring errand into one of the highlights of my day! It's clear he loves his job and treats every customer like it's his personal mission to make them smile (I'm sure he succeeds every time)!

  The store manager (Jesse Isabel) is very condescending and belittling, the way he spoke to my mother and I bordered on misogynistic. He was talking down to her and I , he had a rude tone and was being very dismissive of our concerns ( our print order was running behind although we paid for expedited processing of our order). I cannot recommend this location to anyone, it seems the store is being terribly mismanaged.
