  So I used First American for my very first home purchase back in April of 2021. I was getting the mortgage in my name and First American gave us the date of our signing. They requested both my spouse and I show up to sign papers. We were excited and showed up and we signed a bunch of papers and everything seemed fine. Fast forward a year and come to find out they had my wife sign some paperwork taking her of the house or not putting her on the title of the house. I did not request this at all however it was not explained at the time of signing what my wife was signing off on. This has caused many many arguments over the years with my wife and I because it looks like I went behind her back and asked first American to secretly include those documents. This is a highly unethical practice. Possibly illegal? Can a representative please explain the reasoning why you would do this to your clients. What is the point?!

  Horrible Horrible company!! Top 3 worst companies I've ever had to deal with in my life and that's saying a lot because generally speaking customer service has gotten really bad over the years. Heather was very rude, made a lot of mistakes, and blamed everyone else. The emails show proof of her many mistakes but she blamed two different notaries, the lender, real estate agent, pretty much everyone but herself. Very bad experience. When the manager Cristol or possibly spelled Crystal was made aware she did absolutely nothing, refused to return calls to anyone and said she was busy with meetings for two days straight. They kept complaining about their systems being down as a scapegoat, which we understand and even moved back our closing, but the issues we faced had nothing to do with their systems it had to do with a lot of mistakes that instead of them finding resolution they pointed fingers at everyone else, were very rude even to the lender and agent, and had little interest in just solving the problem. They will probably respond with more scapegoating and excuses but I write this to warn all. If you ever get stuck dealing with them, RUN, ask or get another title company.
