1 Star👎 Absolutely unacceptable experience at the Palm Desert Post Office on Hovley Lane. I scheduled a passport appointment for my 15-year-old daughter on Sunday morning (05/10/2026) through the official USPS website. My wife, daughter, and I all rearranged our schedules and drove there Tuesday morning (05/12/2026) for the 8:30am appointment. My daughter even had to miss her first high school class because minors must appear in person together with both parents for passport appointments. After waiting in line and finally reaching the counter, the usual thin male clerk with a goatee (Edgar I think) casually told me that the passport employee had been gone for ONE MONTH and that they could not process passport applications. ONE MONTH. Yet USPS is apparently still allowing customers to schedule passport appointments online for this location as if everything is functioning normally. What made the experience even worse was the clerk’s completely dismissive and unapologetic attitude. His response was basically: “Just make another appointment and come back.” No apology. No concern. No attempt to help. No acknowledgement that three people wasted time, gas, preparation, and a school absence because of USPS incompetence. When I asked: “What if I make another appointment and the same thing happens again?” his response was: “Well, we can’t edit the website.” That is not the customer’s problem. They had my phone number and email. They could have called or emailed me anytime the day before to warn me not to come. Instead, they knowingly allowed customers to continue showing up for appointments they had no ability to honor. To make matters worse, the clerk immediately tried to move on to the next customer while I was still trying to understand what was happening, as if my family’s wasted morning meant absolutely nothing. Completely unprofessional. Ironically, we went to the Rancho Mirage Post Office the next day at 9:45am where Ms. Baca handled everything professionally, respectfully, and efficiently — proving that this problem was specific to the Palm Desert location and its poor management/customer service. Avoid this location for passport services unless you want to waste your entire morning!

This post office strikes again; tell Box customer their box has been paid, lock it, customer goes in to pay, unlock, locked again within a week of that payment. First to me, now to family. Don't say you weren't warned if you read this.

POOR SERVICE! Remove your passport services online if you cannot accommodate! This lady at the FRONT is RUDE, uneducated. Did not even say apologies for our time wasted!! Wonder who is the manager here? They should do something about this location. We waited 3 WEEKS for this appointment!!! Do your Job lady! At least be nice! If you dont want your job then quit!
