  Went to return a package hoping to get some assistance and was immediately shut down and informed that I should have known what I was doing and employees “can not help”. I am extremely disappointed in the management and how I was treated.

  Dear [Business Owner/Manager] of our small town Jackson CA store. I am writing to share an experience that was both disappointing and discouraging for my family, particularly for my son, who is currently working toward achieving his Eagle Scout rank through the Boy Scouts of America. As part of his Eagle Scout project, he is organizing a supply drive to support the Special Education program at Argonaut High School here in our small Amador County community. He has put a great deal of time, effort, and heart into creating a flyer that allows community members to easily contribute by scanning a QR code to shop either online or in-store. On Saturday, March 29th, we visited local businesses in Jackson to respectfully ask if they would be willing to display his flyer or allow him to share it near their storefront. Unfortunately, during our visit to your establishment, we were informed by an employee that this would not be allowed. While we understand that businesses may have policies regarding solicitation or postings, the interaction itself was disheartening. My son was not given the opportunity to fully explain his project or present his flyer, and the response came across as dismissive. This experience left him feeling discouraged, especially as he is working hard to complete a meaningful project that directly benefits local students and teachers. As a small-town community, we often rely on one another’s support, and initiatives like these are an opportunity to come together for a greater cause. I want to emphasize that my intention in reaching out is not to criticize, but rather to bring awareness to how impactful these interactions can be—particularly for young individuals striving to accomplish something positive and community-focused. Even a brief moment of consideration or a kind response can make a significant difference. We truly value businesses that support local youth and education, and we hope that in the future there may be an opportunity to reconsider how community-driven efforts like this can be acknowledged or supported.
