  I genuinely cannot believe how lazy and incompetent the print department at Staples was today, May 14, 2026, around 3:30 PM. I walked up to the counter and asked for something incredibly simple: printing a few letters on nicer paper. That’s it. The employee immediately told me there would “be a wait.” I asked how long, and after turning to the other employee — who mumbled something incoherent while both of them stood around doing absolutely nothing — I was told it would take “about an hour.” An hour. To load paper into a printer and print a few pages. Meanwhile, there were no customers waiting, no active print jobs, no sense of urgency, and no visible work being done whatsoever. Just two grown men standing behind the counter acting like changing paper stock is some kind of advanced engineering project. For reference, the employees working the counter at the time were two bald men with beards — one white and one Black —. If management reviews cameras from around 3:30 PM today, it should be very easy to identify exactly who was working. The excuse was that they would have to “change the paper in the machine.” Are you serious? I could have walked behind the counter, figured it out myself in under five minutes, and been out the door before either of them finished staring blankly at each other. This wasn’t a staffing issue. It wasn’t a busy-day issue. It was pure laziness mixed with complete incompetence. What made the experience so irritating was the attitude. There was zero effort, zero professionalism, and zero desire to help. It genuinely felt like they were looking for any excuse possible not to do the job they’re literally being paid to do. If your print department cannot handle a basic paper change and a simple print request without quoting an hour wait while the store is practically dead, then something is seriously wrong with how that department is being run. Absolutely ridiculous experience.
