  I scheduled a passport appointment today for 5:45 through the online website. I have been waiting YEARS for my son’s father to agree to sign my sons passport. Today, he took the day off to come, and to our ruined surprise, the offered slot at 5:45 was for AFTER closing hours. Meaning, when we got there, USPS was CLOSED at 5pm. Honestly so irritating. After entering the area where people can access their PO Box , there was a blue door to the sign with a button to hit the bell. We rang the bell a few times and no one opened the door. We left the Post office, just to see the employees walk out after we did. A waste of PTO, drive, time. Negative stars!!

  An observational visit to the Post Office in Elk Grove revealed a well-structured service environment. Customer interactions were efficient, and operational procedures appeared consistent. The staff member assisting me processed the shipment accurately and provided clear confirmation details.

  Advice for passport services: 1. Passport services is right next to the post office. Mondays are the BUSIEST. Plan on any other day of the week for shorter lines. People line up an hour or even earlier at opening to get seen. 2. Renewals get checked at the door for PHOTOS. Get it done at the Walgreens nearby before coming. 3. Have all the files ready. Check online for what you need. DO NOT use blue ink pens to fill them out, you’re gonna have to do it again with black ink. This is one of the few places that still take walk-ins so be prepared for long wait times. They can only get to so many people a day so get there earlier than you think, accept a ticket and sit tight until you’re called. Book an appointment if you don’t want to wait, they're usually a month out. As far as post office go, some days are packed and others are faster. Just be prepared and have everything ready on hand so they help you as fast as they can.

  I stopped by to buy stamps and mail letters to my grandkids. The staff was kind, helped me find commemorative stamps, and even carried my packages to the counter. The letters arrived quickly, and the service felt very personal. The quality of interaction was wonderful, and the value of traditional mail is still alive here.
