After years as a customer, my insurance carrier requested updated proof of central station monitoring — that's when I discovered Dial was only monitoring a single zone board on my alarm system, not the entire system as I had believed and paid for. Their proposed fix was to sell me a new communicator. I agreed. When the technician came to install it, he was clearly out of his depth. He broke the rest of my system during the install and had to call in a more senior tech, who also could not resolve it. After hours of failed troubleshooting in my home, I asked them to leave. They walked out and left me with a system that no longer functioned at all — I went from partial monitoring to zero monitoring. I immediately requested cancellation of my contract. I offered in good faith to pay for the original service call and the communicator visit, but not for the hours of troubleshooting or the damage they caused. I asked repeatedly — on multiple occasions — to speak with someone about disputing the charges. No one ever returned my calls. Instead of processing my cancellation or engaging with the dispute, they are now attempting to bill me late fees on top of the charges I disputed. If your alarm company won't even take a phone call when something goes wrong, ask yourself what happens when your actual alarm goes off. Is this who you want protecting your home or business?
