- BWBen WolfeNov 30, 20225.0Jean to the rescue!!! My wife and I were on the last day of our 10 day trip out west, and we chose to ship our bags UPS to circumvent Spirit Airlines' shakedown baggage policies. I was leery of using the Bishop UPS access point because of mixed reviews, so I opted to wait until Vegas to drop our bag off. Halfway through our hike on Mt. White, I realized the flaw in my plan: no UPS centers would be open before our flight out... Oh no! What to do??? We abandoned our hike and searched for dropoff locations. At that point, there would be nothing open between the trailhead and Vegas, where we were due to fly out later that evening. So we booked it down the mountain and said a Hail Mary that the USPS would take our 80lb, hulking UPS-labeled box. Pulling in at 4:56pm, four minutes to close, we open the door to the Big Pine USPS and tried to compose ourselves enough to communicate without oozing desperate anxiety. Then, we met Jean. I am not one to give into supernatural thinking, but Jean was as close to a Godsend as I've ever witnessed. With an aire of utmost professionalism, Jean eased our concerns and took our UPS package with a friendly smile. Jean, you saved the remainder of our trip, and we are so grateful to you!!! Our baggage arrived safely days later, and the rest of our adventure was crisis free and a relaxing drive through the desert.
