Possibly the slowest post office on the planet. Occasionally you will be surprised and get a clerk who actually sees you as a fellow human being and tasks themselves with working at an average pace. But seriously... do yourself a favor... if you need to mail something important and/or with any degree of urgency, choose another post office.

They sent my parcel to wrong place, it came back to Athens PO, it says it was picked up at 8 pm?? Now they can't locate it in the building, they never answer the phone, also Clerk told me parcel to Puerto Rico needs custom form. IT DOES NOT. Terrible customer service ever!!!!!

The lack of employees is absolutely horrible there is not enough carriers to carry all these big routes we go days without mail I hope they can get it together so that the mail can come regularly like it used to be I do not blame the carriers I blame the whole postal system on this, we have excellent carriers when we can get a carrier.

After living all over the country for more than 20 years, my wife and I agree: the Athens post office is hands-down the worst we’ve ever dealt with. We run a small business here, and to actually get our shipments delivered reliably, we drive our packages to the next town over rather than trust the local carriers. The employees at that neighboring post office have openly told us multiple times that the Athens office is a complete dumpster fire. Lost packages, chronically delayed deliveries, wrong addresses, and repeated false claims that our mailbox was blocked (when it clearly wasn’t) have become routine. The carriers seem unable to reliably read street signs, package labels, or mailbox numbers. To make matters worse, the customer service is horrendous. One issue leads to an endless cascade of problems with almost no resolution or accountability. This is what our American tax dollars are paying for — a bloated, incompetent operation that desperately needs to be cleaned out with a flamethrower and rebuilt with people who can actually do the job.

I came to the local post office to find out why we aren’t receiving mail. Of course I got the run around and Lance could not tell me why. Something about he saw the carrier yesterday and then some other mess about she said good luck to him and she will be gone for a few weeks. Then he turned around and said she was sick. Look I don’t know what y’all have going on at this post office but you all need to get it together expeditiously! I felt like I was fed a bunch of lies. On March 24th I came to this exact location to retrieve my mail and I was told by a lady at the front desk that I should receive my mail. I came because I knew I wasn’t going to receive my mail (and I didn’t). The mail carrier for Costello Drive sucks in my eyes. We never get mail when are supposed to. This is not the first time this has happened. I shouldn’t have to spend my mornings at the post office attempting to track down my mail. In all seriousness if you don’t want to do your job please quit respectfully! I will be at the post office EVERY morning until you all figure out where my mail is! One more thing you all open at 8am. Please open the door on time. Lance didn’t unlock the door until after 8am and it was a line. Thank you
