I absolutely loathe going to postal services. I had a return that wasn’t even mine, was trying to do a good thing and drop off the package. Dreading it for days. This place got me in and out. So sweet and helpful. Legit any time I need to go to UPS, will be coming to this location.

Recently, my wife and I went to this location to have a will notarized. We were greeted cheerfully and professionally by a young man on duty (One of three notaries on duty that morning). This welcome quickly deteriorated. First he informed us, there was not a section on the 4-page form for a notary public. I disagreed because there a third of the last page with room for the acknowledge stamp, signature, and notary stamp. I finally convinced him that these three elements, plus the signature of two witnesses was required by state law in Texas. Moving on, he suggested we get the signature of two witnesses. His reasoning we were told, was to save us the additional $5.00 per witness charge. At this point, we got the impression he just didn't want to perform the service and I asked him to please proceed forward with the notary request. utilizing the two other employees as witnesses. As we waited, for the other two signatures (They were working other customers), he started working another customer instead of finishing up our requirement. We patiently waited and finally the documents were signed, notarized and completed. After we paid, we thanked him for his patience and he refused to acknowledge us. We also thanked the two witnesses and they courteously replied. Under normal conditions, I'd understand the foot traffic building up. But we were also paying customers and had to pay an additional $5.00 per witness, plus the notary fee, so we expected a little more professionalism. UPS has always been my go to store for shipping and other services, so I was bit disappointed in this transaction.

I needed five copies printed. They insisted on a $3.00 computer charge, which was, on its own, 3x the cost of the copies. I explained I had my own laptop I'd be more than happy to hook up to the printer, as well as a physical USB drive, but was denied all of those. My document was pre-formatted as a black and white 8.5x11 PDF, and I am not about paying $3.00 for someone to click the print button. Absolutely absurd and nonsensical. EDIT: I choose to use Occam's razor and believe that Mr. DeLeon has some misunderstandings. First of all, he frames the UPS Store as being unable to compete with a "large corporation that can absorb this loss." The UPS Store is a franchise of the United Parcel Service, a corporation with over $90 billion in annual revenue, which is not small at all. This is also a store that, for the record, charges $5 for a small bubble mailer, where an equivalent can be found at Walmart for less than a dollar. This is already a business operating in the context he lays out, and he knows it. Secondly, he disingenuously compares printing through a printer to creating business cards. Business card printing involves specific setup, proofing, unique cardstock, and precise cutting. Printing a pre-formatted PDF on standard paper is a one-click, automated process. The labor and material overhead are fundamentally different and in no way comparable. I was prepared to eliminate the "labor" entirely by using my own USB drive and even my own computer, which is a standard feature at most other print shops. My issue is not that a service "merits a lower price," but that the pricing structure is illogical. Overhead, labor, and material costs should be built into the unit price (the per-page cost), allowing for predictable scaling. Many businesses, let alone prin stores, do this. A mandatory flat fee that is a multiple of the transaction's value is not a "service fee," it's a penalty on customers with small needs. A $3.00 fee on a $1.00 transaction isn't an inconvenience; it's a deterrent and a punishment. The current policy seems less about covering costs and more about enforcing a minimum transaction value. Unfortunately, it ensures that for any simple printing needs, my business, and likely that of others, will go to competitors with more sensible pricing structures.
