I hate to leave a two-star review for a location where I have otherwise had positive experiences. I have maintained a personal mailbox at this UPS Store location since relocating to Texas in August 2024 and, until recently, every interaction I had with staff was professional and pleasant. Unfortunately, my first encounter with employee RJ in November 2025 was not a positive one. During that visit I inquired about the military discount I had received multiple times before at this location. As a veteran who has relocated several times over the years, I have maintained personal mailboxes at other UPS Store locations as well, and those locations have consistently honored a military discount. RJ responded in a dismissive and hostile tone and raised his voice while telling me the store does not offer military discounts. When I attempted to clarify that I had received the discount there previously, his tone escalated unnecessarily. Due to my confusion, I asked that he check with a manager for clarification. He stated that he had spoken with the owner of the location and reiterated that no military discount was offered. Due to how uncomfortable the interaction was, I asked him to write his name and the owner’s name on a business card so I could document my experience. At that time I had every intention of reporting his unprofessional behavior, but I ultimately chose not to escalate it further. A second and more concerning interaction occurred on March 1, 2026 when I visited to pick up packages. Tracking showed a delivery from February 28, 2026 that had been handed to someone at the front desk. When I asked about the package, RJ repeatedly told me I had no packages and stated I had already picked them up. As I attempted to clarify the delivery confirmation and asked that the conversation remain calm and professional, he escalated the interaction further. At one point he stated that he felt I was “about to attack him,” which was both surprising and concerning given that I remained behind the service counter, was not in his personal space, and had done nothing to suggest aggressive behavior. I even pointed out the obvious difference in our physical stature and that my conduct did not justify such an accusation. After contacting corporate, the store manager reached out and confirmed that the package was in fact at the store after what was described as a more “thorough review” of the intake area. This confirmed that the February 28th delivery reflected in the tracking information had been received by the store as originally indicated. I do appreciate that Ms. Gonzalez, the store manager, responded and informed me that my package is available for pickup. She also indicated that the matter had been reviewed internally and that expectations regarding professionalism, customer service, and conducting thorough searches before advising mailbox holders that no packages are available were reinforced with staff. While I appreciate that follow-up, the situation itself was still very concerning as a customer. I want to emphasize that every other employee I have interacted with at this location has been courteous and helpful. My concern is specifically related to the repeated hostile tone and escalation I experienced during my interactions with RJ. I hope the store takes steps to ensure all customers are treated respectfully and that situations like this are handled professionally in the future.
