We went to this post office specifically because online it showed walk-in hours for passport applications from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. We had an urgent need to get our son’s passport processed, my partner’s father has been very sick, and she was trying to fly out with our son so he could see his grandfather. We had all the required documents ready, took the day off work, and even picked up our son early from his ABA therapy in Grand Prairie to make it on time for those walk-in hours.
We arrived about 10 minutes early with everything completed, ready to get the process started. As soon as we walked in, a man named George immediately told us we needed an appointment. When I explained that the website showed walk-in hours between 2:30 and 3:30, he said, very rudely, “We’re not taking walk-ins,” and told us to come back or make an appointment. His tone was disrespectful and dismissive from the start, and even other customers noticed how unnecessarily rude he was.
It was so frustrating, We had gone out of our way to follow the posted hours online, and instead of being helped, we were treated like an inconvenience. To make matters worse, it truly felt like we were being judged because we are a same-sex couple. That kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in a public service setting where kindness and respect should come first.
We walked out upset, but my girlfriend decided to go back inside to speak with someone else. That’s when Angela and Sam stepped in and completely turned things around. They took the time to listen, checked all our documents, and were patient, understanding, and kind. Sam even helped us expedite our son’s passport, which thankfully arrived within two weeks! Their help meant the world to us during such a stressful and emotional time.
I want to sincerely thank Angela and Sam for being true examples of professionalism and compassion. You both made a huge difference, and we are so grateful for your help.
As for George, shame on you for how you treated us. No one deserves to be spoken to or dismissed that way. I truly hope no one ever treats you the way you treated us that day.
We chose this location because of the walk-in hours listed online, and it’s disappointing that we had to endure such disrespect just for trying to follow the process. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because everyone deserves to be treated with basic kindness and respect.
