Today I tried calling the city of Newark TX to ask a simple question about my taxes. I was then forwarded to Kim's Answering Service where my call was answered by what sounded like a 14yr old girl who was eating. None the less I asked my question and was told that they didn't have the answer and that I would need to call the city the next day when they opened. As a resident and owner of multiple properties within the city, I then asked what services they could help with. The girl said that they offered multiple service but couldn't list even one for me. I asked to speak with a supervisor. This woman was very rude and unprofessional from the beginning and asked what my question was. I asked then asked what services they offered for residence after-hours. She informed me that they offered emergency after-hours services. I then asked what services specifically they offered. She then said that she was done with the conversation and hung up on me.
With no help from Kim's Answering Service I was left to assume that the services they offered were that of a middle man between the emergency personnel that may need to be contacted. I assume they receive information from the caller and forward the information to the respective emergency personnel such as public works for immediate water shut off, Texdot for traffic light issues, BNSF for railroad issues, fire department for fire emergencies. To me this seems like an unnecessary delay to an emergency situation. Couple this delay with the lack of emergency management certification and the unprofessionalism, I personally see no reason to employ such a company.

Within the last year it seems the quality of this service has gone down. You all used to be great but now we receive numerous complaints from our patients that reach the answering service about the shortness/rudeness of the the people answering calls. The professionalism lacks sometimes, unfortunately.

Use another service. I requested cancelation after I found out they were receiving calls, charging us for them but not forwarding notice of the calls. They said this was because the people didn’t leave specific messages. Out of 100 phone calls I received 60 messages or less. I work in a business where if a detective calls about a case it’s probably important regardless of if he/she leaves a message. I explained this to Kim‘s only to have them start sending me multiple messages from previous days rather than as they were received. I would get one email with the prior days 3 PM 7 PM 9 PM phone calls. It would’ve been nice to receive those calls as they came in. I previously used another answering service when I worked for different company and never had as many issues. I requested a date as to how far in advance we had paid because we would be switching companies. I receive no response I emailed them again in a week or so later. I got a response to that email which told me we had to give 30 days notice. I explained I’d given notice a week or so ago and she asked for proof I never heard from her again after that. Fast forward to now our 30 days is up and I just got billed for another month of service and then billed again for miscellaneous $50 charge that belongs to no invoice.
