We we were told everything would be wrapped up at a certain time and we are nearing two hours past that with no end in sight. No regard for other people’s time.
- JRJames RowlettMay 31, 20201.0Like most Texas American Title branches, they will fight you to prevent a deal from closing. On this one, I represented the buyer, and their lender had asked for the title company to provide an estimate (repeat "estimate") of the property taxes with the Over 65 Exemption applied. They refused. This was escalated through their branch with no success. It went for 10 days, which towards the end, I finally got the listing agent involved. Once she spoke with them, they agreed to do it. One thing to keep in mind is the realtor worked for Better Homes & Garden, and Realogy owns them as well at Texas American Title. Needless to say, we got back on track but this nearly killed the deal as the seller was extremely upset that we had to postpone the closing by a week. The unfortunate part of this is that the delay was actually the result of Texas American refusing to cooperate. They would rather see a home sale flounder than assist. It is a bit disturbing. If you are not a realtor with Realogy, you don't have much recourse. I have run into problems on several closings with them. There are so many great title companies out there to choose from, but this is not one of them.
