Chicota TX Post Office #325 that I stop at going through this rural town was first established in 1879. Capt. Robert Drape who start a store here hear from the Indians trading at the store of Checotah in Indian territory and chose this for the name for the post. This is a very nice post office whoever work here really decorated it up to feel something other than a post office. Keep up the good work.

There’s been a Chicota post office in operation since the early to mid 1880s. The bldg now serving the community is clean inside & out, looks sharp - almost charming. The grounds & paved parking lot are well tended. One mid-sized entrance hall / service area open to the public; containing self service area, P.O. Boxes, a rolling security shutter for the window above customer service counter, and lock-boxes. Chicota Post Office is at the intersection of Farm Rd 197 & Co Rd 35960. Unlike similar offices in nearby communities, postal workers allow no dowdiness here. 📮 Can’t help but think their service is a notch above the rest too!
