I’ve lived here less than a year, and each visit to this post office is uncomfortable. Most of the staff are friendly and efficient, so my concern isn’t with the employees. The issue is the group that regularly congregates at the entrance. I don’t judge people based on their circumstances, but being approached by multiple people asking for money, exposed to cigarette smoke, and once witnessing a man urinating at the front door creates an unsafe and unwelcoming environment. They should have security onsite to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and approachable for customers.

Been here a little over 2 years and these people dont know how to hold mail!!! Ever!! Fill out online hold mail, get confirmation. Turn in yellow hold mail card as well for the same time period because these people cannot read!!! Cannot check their routes for customers who have hold requests.
They cannot follow directions! They have never held our mail correctly Ever in 2 years!!! Front counter people take your yellow hold mail card and lay it aside like its a piece of junk to be thrown away later. Attempting to call to report they are not holding the mail during an active request is pointless because no one answers the phone!! The 800 number is a ginormous waste of time you never talk to a real person. Have lived all over this country and never had this level of horrible service. Clearly mail carriers are not receiving any proper training or if they are, they don't give a rip and no supervision whatsoever.. Filling out their survey does absolutely nothing. Worst federal post office. You cannot go on vacation and be assured of your mail being held. You will stress and watching on your security camera every day- seeing the mail carrier stopping to deliver your mail during an active hold request is the worst display of inepitude. No amount of complaining or requesting the manager will get anything corrected or changed. Your only hope is to leave the sumter area!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would in a heartbeat. I waited in line around Christmastime, and it was extremely long. I had an issue with my packaging that would have been solved in less than 15 seconds, but he told me to go to the back of the wrap around line. I timed myself when fixing it, 9 seconds. I waited in line again, as this was important. When I went to the desk, they told me another minor problem that THEY COULD HAVE MENTIONED BEFORE I WASTED AN HOUR OF MY TIME AT THEIR INEFFICIENT OFFICE. I suppose some stereotypes are true for valid reasons. AWFUL experience. Would not recommend.

Post office text said 2 pkgs was delivered 12:45 on 9th to my door but wasn’t although mail truck was at my box at that time putting letters in my box. Called post office twice yesterday and half dozen times this morning to try checking on them but can’t get answer. What is happening to mail service
