Unprofessional and incompetent staff. I went on the USPS website to locate a post office which would accept Passport Applications, Saluda came up. The website listed their passport hours, morning and afternoon, five days a week. I made a reservation for 2pm on a specified day. I arrived and got nothing but "attitude" from the clerk with a "we don't do passports in the afternoon." I directed her attention to my appt number, she said, "I don't care, it ain't happening." Postmaster was on vacation and I had to wait 15 min for a supervisor since she wasn't even on site. Might as well as called her "Karen"...she acted every bit the role. Neither was going to let a man point out the their incompetence for not understanding that a reservation has a meaning. "Karen" (the supervisor) admitted that they should've called me that morning when they knew they were understaffed, but then expected that I should "know" their local hours...essentially that I should call to "confirm"....my CONFIRMED appt (doubling down on stupid). Now mind you, USPS no longer publishes Post Office phone numbers...they want you to route questions through their centralize website. So, if you can't get their phone number...how do you call them? A side note, I never threatened, nor yelled, but I did raise my voice and told them, "This is bullshit, my wife and I took off work to get this Passport stuff done, and they're just blowing the customer off." I was pissed. My wife and I both took time off from work and drove 30 min with a RESERVATION and I get two clueless employee not able to grasp how insulting it is to a customer. With that, "Karen" threatened to call the police because she didn't like my tone. Look if you're a Supervisor, you're going to have to deal with upset customers and you've got to work through problems to get a satisfactory solution for ALL Parties, not just what's easy for you....it seems that most women Supervisor's immediately go to the "oh, I feel threatened, I'm going to call the police." That is a poor cover for inept and incompetent personal, managerial, and leadership skills. Back in the day, Post Offices were required to post the Postmaster's name clearly in the lobby...a source of pride and professionalism. Not in Saluda, now I know why, he's too embarrassed to have his name associated with that mess of a Post Office.
