- PSPenny SmithJul 23, 20225.0The postmaster in McCormick, South Carolina is one of the most dedicated and conscientious public servants I’ve ever observed. A smaller post office nearby, which she oversees, made a mistake with a critical package. It contained the passports of my grandchildren and we were getting ready to go on a Disney cruise within days. I did not have time to go through the tracking process to get it back. She personally tracked it, talking to other postmasters and employees in multiple states, had trucks detained to look through them, and finally ended up getting in her car and driving to a distant location where another employee who spent personal time finding it was holding it for her. This is truly going above and beyond the call of duty. We would’ve been devastated had we not been able to go on the nonrefundable cruise. Because of Evelyn Case we all had a wonderful time together. I will forever be indebted to her. When asked if I could compensate her in someway she refused and said, “my team made a mistake and it’s my job to clean it up.” If the rest of the world operated that way It would be a much better place. I can not thank her enough!
