Ignorant about their own regulations even when shown printed out law from their own Postal code. Accused me of committing a felony before denying me service. Will be contacting Postmaster to complain further.

I'm new to Rhode Island and was passing through this area. I needed to drop off a package and get a receipt. The staff member was very nice and efficient, making the process quick and easy. The building is beautiful too. Plenty of on-street parking. Overall, a great experience!

Other day I had an experience where I felt that I was discriminated against in this postal office. I went to the line and apparently was standing either on the wrong side of or in the incorrect place and was told by the postal attendant Ricardo that I need it to move which I did. When I reached the desk I was again informed that apparently I had not been standing in the correct place and that this was for postal privacy. I told him that I didn't have any problem with this but that I didn't understand at the time and was next in line anyway so no need to make a fuss. He then told me that I was the one who was being rude and that this was the issue. I replied that I completely disagreed. He then called back to his other attendant and asked if they would take me instead. To which I moved to the right and was happily waited upon. My issue.. is this is a federal building.. if I am a serviceable citizen, doing business in a government building.. then I am serviceable by ANY attendant. .(meaning him) For him to call apon another postal attendee to wait on me. refusing to personaly sevice me, when there were no other customers.. He is exerting his PERSONAL preference and Prejudice IN A FEDERAL building! this is the very definition of prejudice.. bottom line he #HAD to call in another attendant... because I had done nothing wrong and someone HAD to service me... he was judgemental & prejudice and thought because I have dreadlocks that I should be treated like a criminal who's in there to steal people's information rather than a citizen mailing a package.. if a person's done nothing wrong broken no laws then you have no choice but to service them in a federal building or else you are literally breaking federal law.. The END

After dealing with lazy and rude clerks at THREE other post offices while trying to have my wedding invitations hand cancelled, the lovely clerks at Apponaug were a breath of fresh air!! THANK YOU
