- LALarry AremAug 5, 20251.0I received atrocious service at this UPS. My expresso machine needed service and the merchant suggested I ship via UPS using their professional packing, which I did. Upon arrival the merchant was shocked by the poor quality of the packing which led to damage to the machine. No bubble wrap was used and no filler was added to protect the machine and keep it from being damaged in transit. The employee did not ask me the value of the machine and just used $100 for "insurance" purposes. I was not even aware of it until I had to file a claim. Furnished with proof of the packing job UPS promptly paid me the $100 and refunded packing and shipping charges. But, that is not enough. Insurance should cover accidental damage, not an employee's incompetence. UPS advertises "certified packing experts who've been trained in advanced packing techniques." I had an unqualified packer. UPS refuses to stand behind their promises telling me it was my responsibility to insure against their broken promise. Insurance should cover loss or damage that is an accident, not loss occasioned by gross incompetence. One can understand why big corporations acting like UPS are frequent targets of class action lawsuits.

Moments later, they turned that same rudeness and dismissiveness on me. Not only were they unhelpful, but they acted like assisting me was an inconvenience. If this is the new standard for customer service, it’s a serious step in the wrong direction. I’ll be going elsewhere from now on.
