I arrived at the Fairmount post office at 4:53 PM, prior to closing with a pre-printed labeled package to drop off. One of the employees locked the door a minute prior . I knocked on the window as there were still 4-5 customers in the store and 2 people behind the counter. They first ignored me, and then mouthed to me that they were closed. This business is open until 5PM according to USPS hours - and they were still serving customers inside. I showed the lady the time was not yet 5PM and she rudely told me to go home. She eventually came to let a customer out at the door and called me rude. I would strongly recommend avoiding this post office. If the employees don't want to do their jobs or work, they should not have them. I filed a complaint online and another customer outside indicated he had filed complaints previously against this branch as well. Shame because the mail carriers are nice, but the staff cannot respect proper operating hours for folks who have to work and make time to drop things off before closing. I have a retail background and would always serve customers up until closing and the door was only locked at or after our posted closing time. USPS is a federal service funded by our taxes. I urge those who have experienced similar to file complaints with the USPS so we can give these jobs to people that wish to work and perform their job duties correctly. God knows there are hard working people out there who struggle and need a job.

The worst USPS ever. The day before New Year’s Eve, they refused to take in packages, with the reason that not enough space. I tried the next morning, which is New Year’s Eve, they still refused to ship packages, with the reason that the system is down. It is useless when the USPS can’t ship packages.

I thought my package was lost after it was misdelivered but it showed back up at my door a few days later! So I felt like I needed to say something nice since I think this post office is the correct entity to thank and I never thought I'd see it again. Additionally, everyone I've interacted with at the post office has always been nice.

It’s only fair to come back just about a year or later, and give an update. I’ve been avoiding the post office for a year because I was so upset with the service. But I’ll be honest with you; things I’ve really improved. It’s not that the Esaí has changed, but it seems like everyone is in a much better place and much more happy and patient with customers. I appreciate the staff and I appreciate the post office and everything I do. I think everybody should give them another try. In regard to this location lol

the lines are usually long and slow, but customer service has been pretty friendly in my experience. HOWEVER, i won't be dropping mail/packages at this location anymore. 2 lost packages w prepaid labels (tracking shows they never left the post office?!), xmas cards that didn't arrive until FEBRUARY, and bday cards for loved ones showing up literally MONTHS after i mailed them. all had proper postage and addresses. never had an issue with other USPS locations so i have to assume this is a result of disorganization at this particular location :(
