Was treated with ableism and racism. I've worked in retail, so I know how stressful it can be. So I go out of my way to be kind to customer service. From the moment I stepped up to the counter, this guy Paul had a nasty attitude toward me. I keep being friendly, even telling a joke, but he talks over me in his monotone disrespectful voice. I ignore his attitude and get the order over with. Suddenly the printer won't print. I see him struggling with it and ask, "Is it having trouble printing the shipping labels or the receipt." I asked this because I only needed the receipt and was going to tell him no need to hurry with the shipping labels. But instead, he snaps at me, "I KNOW HOW TO DO MY JOB." Like, what?? I was nothing but kind to this guy, and I said, "No need for all that." Then he threatens to cancel my order. I'm so confused because I don't understand why he's so emotional. I told him, "I've been nothing but kind to you, why are you threatening my order? I need to speak to someone else." He tells me to call the number, so I call the number. He then says, "You accuse me of being threatening, so now I feel threatened! I'm calling security!" He threatened to cancel my order. Literally. Anyway, Security shows up and I try to explain the situation, and Paul says, "Nobody wants to hear your white woman tears!" Huh?????? I'm cool as a cucumber. The only person getting emotional was him having an actual meltdown over nothing. I said to a coworker who was standing there, "I don't' get why he's acting like this, because I was nothing but kind." She said, "Maybe it's because you have an unpleasant face." I literally have a cranial nerve injury that paralyzed my face. So not only was I mistreated for my race, I was then mistreated on the basis of my disability.
