I had a deeply frustrating and unprofessional experience at this post office with Richard Menham (Air Force.) (Had a Marine been in charge, I doubt I'd be in a position to truthfully say all of this.)
When I first requested my mail, he immediately started telling me how disappointed he was about a review that had been flagged for investigation. He repeatedly mentioned that the review was dangerous and inappropriate, but he refused to explain how or why it was considered so serious.
After hearing this, I turned around and tried to leave, thinking my mail wasn’t there. As I reached the exit, Richard suddenly stopped what he was saying and told me I could have my mail. I returned to the counter to grab it, but as I was about to leave, he stopped me again to continue talking about the investigation.
When I clarified that I was not the author of the review and frankly wasn't informed or interested to be. Richard proceeded to say he would close the case since I didn't write the review. This response felt hasty and dismissive, as if the matter could be dismissed entirely just because it wasn’t me who wrote the review. It felt like the situation was being closed simply because he no longer saw it as a concern once he thought it wasn’t tied to me, which raises the troubling possibility of discrimination based on assumptions rather than following proper protocol.
If the review was truly dangerous, it should have been thoroughly investigated regardless of the author. His decision to close the case immediately, without any further investigation, was irresponsible and unprofessional.
As someone with multiple medical conditions, I found this entire situation physically uncomfortable. Anyone with severe whiplash, a crooked spine, intestinal issues, and injured knees may relate. It was entirely inappropriate for Brian to disregard my well-being and continue holding me up while I was clearly trying to leave. Just to close the case after being told it wasn't me who created this supposedly hazardous and critically dangerous review. His handling of the situation reflects poorly on both his professionalism and USPS as a whole.
This experience raises serious concerns about how security issues and customer complaints are handled at this location. I would STRONGLY ADVISE CAUTION when using this post office, as it’s clear that serious matters are not dealt with appropriately, and I question whether proper procedures are being followed at all.
It's hardly worth mentioning my mailbox lid is left open a lot, and one day it was completely ripped off and left on the ground for me to find. I wish that was the real complaint here. Security should be taken seriously. What I learned? Say it wasn't you and it all goes away I guess? It's personal? Other people can make dangerous reviews but if you think I do, you'll investiage it and what threaten my freedom I fought for because of your little assumptions? But when it's stated not to be me, by only me, that's good enough to close it down right?!? THAT'S INFURIATING! Semper Fi I took an oath to make sure THINGS LIKE THIS DON'T HAPPEN! Shame on you Richard Menham! I hope you see this and the next time a review (words in an email about an experience) is so offensive and dangerous, that you follow through with the investigation, regardless of who the author was. I hope you're not so fast to close such a dangerous case, just because you don't know the person who wrote it! Lastly I hope you and everyone who sees this realizes how ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS your handling of the entire situation was.
