I had a VERY important piece of certified mail. I wasn't home to receive it, so I went online set up for redelivery the next day. It was a Saturday and did not show up. I called Monday and they weren't sure why it did not get delivered. They said to sign the original notification and put it in the mailbox and they would deliver it on said Monday. Well when I checked the box, the notice was still there and no mail at all. Perhaps I did not have any mail that day, but I was told on the phone that the carriers would be informed and would deliver it. NOT! Super inconvenience for me. Pathetic. As of this writing , still don't have it. Going to the facility direct and deal with it.

The tellers are slow and rude. Always a long line and everything is always more difficult then it should be.

I needed to process a change of address issue and was short on time on a day when the line was backed up. Thankfully the staff was helpful, professional, and had multiple attendants ready to help the line move quickly.

Zero Stars – Unacceptable Mishandling of Mail Our experience with the Macungie USPS has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. We recently moved, and without any communication or official notice, our local mail carrier took it upon themselves to start holding our mail at the post office - a full month before we vacated the residence. This decision was never discussed with us, nor were we given the legally required notice that our mail had been redirected. Even more concerning, the carrier shared information about our mail and forwarding status with neighbors instead of contacting us directly. This is not only inappropriate but potentially a violation of privacy regulations. On the final day at our house, we checked the mailbox expecting several important items, including time-sensitive pet medication. The box was completely empty. It was only through our neighbor and landlord that we learned the mail carrier had told them our mail was being held at the Macungie Post Office and that we would need to go there to retrieve it. Wanting to confirm before taking time off work, I called the post office directly. The employee who answered the phone was immediately rude and dismissive. When I asked if my mail was there, she responded with sarcasm and annoyance: “Well, why would your mail be here if you forwarded it?” I explained that I had not set up mail forwarding, but based on what we’d been told, the mail was apparently being held there anyway - and that was the reason for my call. Rather than helping, she became increasingly short and unhelpful, ultimately snapping “YOUR MAIL ISN’T HERE,” and hanging up on me. No effort to assist. No clarification. Just complete disregard for someone trying to track down missing mail. My partner ended up taking time off to go in person - only to find out that yes, our mail had been there the entire time. However, because it had been sitting there for over 10 days, it had already been returned to sender. Ten days. And who knows how long it had been there, since we were never notified that the carrier had stopped delivery in the first place. No note was left in our mailbox, no attempt was made to contact us in any way, and no official procedure was followed. The carrier apparently decided, based on neighborhood gossip or assumptions, that we had moved early - and simply stopped delivering our mail. We’ve never spoken to or even met the carrier, so it’s unclear how they reached that conclusion. Even worse, when we followed up with a complaint, the carrier backtracked and claimed the mailbox was “full.” Let me be very clear: our mailbox is not a standard-sized box. It’s huge - 24” x 16”. It has never been full, not once, especially considering we typically receive only a few pieces of mail per week, mostly junk flyers. We later learned that “full mailbox” is one of the few justifications a carrier can use to hold mail at their discretion - but they are still required to notify the recipient. And that never happened. Why? Because that wasn’t the real reason. The real reason was baseless speculation fueled by small-town nosiness, not policy. This entire situation was handled with an alarming lack of professionalism, communication, and accountability. The behavior of both the mail carrier and the post office staff was unacceptable. Mail delivery is a public service - not a rumor-fueled guessing game. Macungie USPS, do better.
