I had a really unfortunate experience at the Staples on Dekalb Pike today. I went to use the passport photo service, and a very nice girl greeted me as I walked over. She asked if I needed anything, and I said yes, that I was looking to get my passport photo taken, and she said, "Great, I'll help you in one moment, I'm working on this computer - Oh! Can you help her?" when she realized her coworker was near. The man in question was noticeably annoyed she asked him to help. He had been standing leaning on a shelf before, so I had assumed he was a customer, he definitely wasn't working, so I'm not sure why he was annoyed to be asked to do something. He then told me to sit on a wobbly stool and took my picture while it was still swaying and I hadn't gotten my balance. The picture turned out poorly and my hair was out of place. When I saw the photo, I asked, "Oh, I'm sorry, would it be really annoying if I asked to retake it?" And he answered in an exceptionally rude tone, "Yes." And when I looked shocked, he continued, "It's not a fashion show, sweetheart." To which I answered, "How much does this service cost?!" and he suddenly changed his tune and took the photo since I ended up having to pay $24 for some printed copies and a USB with the digital photo. It was such rude service, and it was so awkward after that, that I found myself apologizing! He should have apologized to me! Only now, hours later, do I realize just how rude it was :( There was no one in line behind me, all of the other registers were manned, and there were still a few available employees, so it's not that he was hurried. So nasty and for no reason!

I have been a patron of this establishment for at least two years, and the service provided has significantly benefited my business. Managing two businesses from Monday to Friday presents considerable challenges, but the tasks are accomplished, and Staples undoubtedly provides valuable assistance. We extend my sincere gratitude to Brian Ballingall, General Manager, Store 0249.

Staples asked me to write a review. Frankly, I am hesitant to put this out in the world based on what's happening to brick and mortar stores but -- When I enter a store it seems obvious that the company is not interested in brick and mortar sales. The paper selection is not really any better than the half aisle that Target supplies. I can't fault employees - they just don't seem supported.

Beware of this Staples location if you are shipping or receiving packages! I had a package delivered to this Staples location on 10/28, and when I went to pick it up around 4:45 PM, I was told by an employee named Eric that my package had already been picked up. Knowing this wasn’t possible, I asked him to double-check several times. Eric contacted the store manager, Brian, who searched for the package in their system but couldn’t locate any record showing who signed for it. After some time, Brian told me the package wasn’t there and handed me a paper with a customer service 1-800 number, instructing me to file a report myself. I then had to call the police, who arrived to file a report. After reviewing the security footage, it was discovered that around 12:21 PM, a woman came in, showed an “ID” on her phone, and claimed she was there to pick up an iPhone and Apple Watch. The video clearly shows Eric opening my package with a razor, removing two iPhone 17 Pro Max devices valued at $2,500, handing them and the box to the woman, and giving her a receipt before she walked out. During this entire interaction while at the store, Eric laughed and made an inappropriate comments. Not only am I now out $2,500 worth of merchandise, but someone I don’t even know now has my home address. I am new to this area and never expected something like this to happen. I fully intend to report this incident to the Better Business Bureau and Staples corporate headquarters. This experience raises serious questions about the integrity and security of this Staples location and the possibility of employee involvement in fraud. I strongly urge others to be cautious when using this store for package pickup or shipping.
